Payroll, awards & STP
An award interpretation engine for hospitality penalties and loadings, auditable pay runs with payslips, and STP Phase 2 exports prepared for your lodgement.

What it is
Payroll in NexDine starts where the roster ends: approved timesheets flow into pay runs, an award interpretation engine works out penalties, loadings and overtime minute by minute, and every pay run finishes with payslips, super accruals and an STP Phase 2 export ready for lodgement.
What problem it solves
Hospitality awards are where payroll goes wrong: weekend penalties, night loadings, casual loading, overtime bands, minimum shifts. Getting them wrong is expensive in both directions. An engine that interprets the award consistently — and shows which rule produced every pay line — replaces guesswork with something you can audit.
How it works
-
Assign an award template — the Hospitality Industry (General) Award or the Restaurant Industry Award — and give each employee a classification and employment type. Junior rates apply by age; casuals get their loading automatically.
-
The award engine interprets every shift minute by minute: Saturday, Sunday and public-holiday penalties, night loadings, early starts and late finishes, daily and weekly overtime, split-shift and overtime-meal allowances, and required unpaid breaks. Every pay line carries a reference to the exact rule that produced it, and reconciliation runs compare entitlement against what was paid.
-
Build a pay run from approved timesheets. It moves through draft and review — reconciliation flags must be acknowledged before you can finalise — and finalising generates payslips, records super contributions, and prepares the STP submission with a tamper-evident checksum. Adjustments after finalisation are allowed, with a reason, on their own lines.
-
Lodgement is deliberately honest: NexDine prepares everything up to the line — the finalised run, payslips, the STP Phase 2 formatted export and the super contribution file — and sends nothing to any government endpoint. You lodge through the SSP gateway or registered agent you already use, then record the lodgement reference back in NexDine so the run is marked lodged with a full trail.
-
The statutory page tracks long-service-leave balances and payroll-tax wage allocation, and payslips are available to staff in their self-service workspace.
Everything inside the system
- Award interpretation for the hospitality and restaurant awards: penalties, loadings, overtime, allowances, break compliance, junior rates — with a rule reference on every pay line.
- Pay runs with draft, review, finalise and lodged states, reconciliation acknowledgement, and post-finalisation adjustments with reasons.
- Payslips, PAYG withholding, study-loan components, salary sacrifice and super accrual per line.
- STP Phase 2 export and super contribution file, prepared for lodgement through your own gateway or agent, with the reference recorded back.
- Long-service-leave balances and payroll-tax wage allocation reporting.
This is built into NexDine — there is no separate payroll product to buy. STP lodgement itself happens through the sending service provider or registered agent you hold an account with; NexDine prepares the files, and no software can honestly claim to lodge as "ATO approved" on your behalf. Award interpretation is a calculation aid — verify outcomes against the applicable award.
