Your first week
A setup checklist on your dashboard walks the team through the first week and ticks itself off as you complete real actions.

What it is
Your first week in NexDine is guided by a setup checklist that lives on your dashboard. It lists the handful of actions that take a freshly provisioned workspace to a venue ready for service, and it tracks itself — each item ticks off automatically when the real action is done.
What problem it solves
New software usually stalls in week one. The workspace exists, nobody is sure what to do first, and momentum dies before the first order is placed. The checklist removes the guesswork: it is always visible until setup is finished, every item deep-links to the right page, and progress is measured against what has actually happened in your workspace — not against boxes someone remembered to tick.
How it works
-
On your first visit to the dashboard the checklist opens by itself. After that, a floating Get started button stays in the corner with a count of the remaining steps.
-
Work through the six core steps. Each one has a Set up button that takes you straight to the right page:
- Workspace created — already ticked; we did this when we provisioned your venue.
- Invite your team — invite your managers and staff by email, each with a role that controls what they see. They set their own password from the invitation link. See Inviting your team & staff logins.
- Add menu items — create your first menu items; the moment one exists, this step completes.
- Subscription billing linked — connect your billing details so your subscription runs itself.
- Connect an integration — activate your first connection from the integrations page.
- Place a test order — run one order end to end and watch it reach the kitchen.
-
Completion is detected from real data. Inviting a second person ticks the team step; the first saved menu item ticks the menu step; the first order ticks the test-order step. There is nothing to mark done by hand.
-
If your plan includes features that need a connection — for example payments, accounting or your mailbox — the checklist adds a Connect step for each one still missing. Gmail and Microsoft 365 are alternatives, so email and calendar count as a single step no matter which you use.
-
When every step is done, the checklist disappears. A fully set-up venue never sees it again.
Everything inside the system
- Auto-detected completion for every step, measured against real workspace data.
- Deep links from each step to the exact page where the action happens.
- Dynamic connection steps that appear only for the features your venue actually enabled.
- Progress count on a persistent launcher, so the checklist never blocks your screen.
- Automatic disappearance once setup is complete.
This is built into NexDine — there is no separate onboarding tool to buy or log into. Payments are processed by Stripe, and optional connections such as Xero or your existing mailbox are set up and managed from inside NexDine.
