Promotions, day-part pricing & surcharges
Promotions with codes and caps, day-part price rules that switch automatically, and compliant card, weekend and public-holiday surcharges.

What it is
Pricing & Offers is one workbench with three tabs: promotions, price rules and surcharges. Define a rule once — when it applies, which items it touches, what changes — and every ordering channel picks it up automatically, from your website to the QR menu to the kiosk.
What problem it solves
Happy hour usually means someone editing prices at 4pm and hopefully remembering to change them back. And surcharges are a compliance minefield: card surcharges have legal caps, and weekend or public-holiday surcharges must be disclosed properly. NexDine runs all of it on rules, so prices switch themselves and the disclosures are generated for you.
How it works
-
Create a promotion: percent or fixed-amount off, applied to the whole order or a single item, optionally locked behind a promo code. Set the window, the channels it runs on, a minimum spend, and caps on total redemptions and redemptions per guest — the workbench shows live redemption counts.
-
Create a price rule for day-part pricing: scope it to the whole menu, a category or one item, pick the days of the week and the time window, and set the change. Overnight windows work correctly — a 10pm-to-2am happy hour stays anchored to the night it started.
-
Set surcharges once: a card surcharge in basis points (capped in line with the RBA's rule that a surcharge must not exceed your cost of acceptance), a weekend surcharge, and a public-holiday surcharge. Public holidays come from your venue's own holiday calendar, evaluated in your timezone, and the holiday surcharge replaces the weekend one on days that are both — guests are never double-charged. Cash payments never attract a card surcharge.
-
Every channel applies the same effective price automatically — website ordering, QR at the table, tablet, kiosk, the public browse menu, even prices pushed to a connected POS. At checkout, surcharges appear as clearly labelled lines with their percentage, and your public menu displays the required disclosure — "a surcharge of [percentage] applies on [the specified day or days]" — so guests see it before they order.
Everything inside the system
- Promotions: percent or fixed discounts, promo codes, channel targeting, date windows, minimum spend, redemption caps, live redemption counts.
- Day-part price rules by menu, category or item, with days-of-week and time windows including overnight spans.
- Card surcharge with an in-app cap tied to your cost of acceptance, per RBA surcharging rules.
- Weekend and public-holiday surcharges driven by your own holiday calendar, holiday taking precedence over weekend.
- Automatic propagation to every ordering channel and the public menu's surcharge disclosure.
This is built into NexDine — there is no separate promotions engine or pricing tool to buy. Card payments (and therefore card surcharges) are processed by Stripe, and every rule is managed from inside NexDine.
